Honda Motor Co. workers at four Ohio plants asked the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to start an organization drive at the fifth-largest auto maker in the United States, the union said. The 1.4-million member union plans to ask the National Labor Relations Board within two weeks for an election to determine if Honda workers in Ohio want union representation, a Teamsters spokesman said. None of Honda’s North American parts or assembly plants are represented by unions, a Honda spokesman said. The United Auto Workers failed in an attempt to organize Honda workers in the mid-1980s.
