‘Run for the Farm’ to Preserve Pierce Land

The third “Run for the Farm” will be held Sunday at Pierce College in an effort to preserve the school’s agricultural land.

Sponsors include the West San Fernando Valley Rotary Club, the West Valley Eagles Track Club and the Pierce College Agriculture and Natural Resources Department.

The run will start and finish at the school’s football stadium, 6201 Winnetka Ave.

Race day registration is $18 for general admission, $15 for seniors 65 and older and children 12 and younger.

The proceeds will be used by the college’s agriculture and natural resources department and to improve the school’s cross-country running course.

Registration for the run is from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.

The 5K run and walk begins at 7:30 a.m., the 10K run at 8:15 and the 2K youth run and 2K walk at 9:15.

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each division. Overall 5K and 10K male and female winners will receive additional awards.

After the race, the agriculture department will hold a spring farm festival with sheep shearing, exhibits and food.
