* Agoura Hills-based Guitar Center reported a second-quarter loss of $149,000, or 1 cent per share, contrasted with net income of $2.3 million, or 10 cents, a year ago. Revenue rose 21% to $139.2 million. The company said the lower results reflected “softness” in the market for high-technology products and competition. The music retailer opened several new stores in the period and completed the acquisition of Musician’s Friend Inc.
