MTI Buys Into Caldera

Anaheim-based MTI Technology Corp. said it has completed its purchase of more than 5.3 million shares in Caldera Systems Inc. for $6 million.

MTI, which provides information-storage products, signed a letter of intent in March to purchase up to 20% of Caldera, a Utah provider of Linux-based software.

It said it signed a licensing contract to distribute Caldera Systems’ full range of products and services. The agreement calls for cooperation in research, development and manufacturing.
