* Lycos Inc. said its loss widened in the fiscal fourth quarter to $21.4 million, or 24 cents a share, from a loss of $6.8 million, or 9 cents, a year ago, though revenue more than doubled. Excluding merger-related expenses, the Internet search service earned $600,000, or a penny a share. Analysts were expecting a break-even quarter. Lycos said it had a wider net loss because it recorded acquisition-related costs of $16.7 million. Revenue climbed to $45.1 million from $19 million.
