Venture capitalists say the Tech Coast needs more veteran entrepreneurs with experience in management and marketing, and the Los Angeles Regional Technology Alliance plans to respond with a workshop series aimed at helping local start-ups make themselves more attractive to potential investors.

The “TechNet Ed” series (subtitled “What Venture Capitalists Really Want From You”) will include modules focusing on writing a business plan, raising money, building a professional management team, sales and marketing, and intellectual property issues. Attorneys, accountants and other service professionals from Ernst & Young, O’Melveny & Myers and Troop Steuber Pasich Reddick & Tobey will conduct the seminars, said LARTA Program Director Cliff Numark.

Five sessions will be held on a monthly basis between October and February at a total cost of $450. For more information, contact Numark at (213) 743-4160 or cnumark@larta.org.
