Death Over Thirst

* So an aspiring writer was forced to kill his friend in the desert to spare him from dying of thirst (“In Land of Extremes, Death Is Tale of Mercy, or Murder,” Aug. 18).

I’ll be glad to withhold judgment, but please tell me that rumbling I hear is not a stampede of publishers rushing to offer book contracts.
