“I had a very esoteric wine made from the Nebbiolo grape, which is basically grown in the Piedmont region (of Italy), but this wine was made in the Napa Valley--it was a 1997 Chateau la Grande Roche Nebbiolo. It was mind-blowing, sort of cherry/violet-scented and very ripe with unusually sweet tannins. I had it with a rib-eye steak and French fries. It’s user-friendly.”
