IRVINE

The Police Department will join with corporate sponsors in a free child safety seat inspection today. The inspections will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Babies R Us in the Marketplace, 13672 Jamboree Road.

Child seat technicians certified by the National Traffic Safety Administration will check to see that the child safety seat has been properly installed, diagnose problems and discuss safety procedures.

The project, called “Fit for Kids,” is a collaboration between Daimler-Chrysler Corp. and Fisher-Price, with the support of the National Safety Council.

For today’s event, please bring the car, child, child safety seat, vehicle owner’s manual, child safety seat owner’s manual and a towel.
