South Coast Rep Names Marketing Chief

Marcia Lazer has been appointed director of marketing and communications for South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa. She was previously regional director of Metro Direct, working in the Los Angeles office she established. She has also been vice president of Stephen Dunn & Associates, director of marketing and public relations efforts for the Los Angeles Music Center Opera, marketing director for the Center Theatre Group and marketing director of the Metropolitan Opera Assn.

* Art Tyree has joined Urban Arena Landscape Architecture & Planning in Newport Beach as project manager. He was formerly a landscape planner for Santa Barbara County, where he worked in landscape maintenance and the development of water-conserving public gardens.

* Barry Newman has been named to the newly created position of vice president of sales for CAM Data Systems Inc. in Fountain Valley. He had been with ScanSource in Greenville, S.C., most recently as director of sales for the western United States.

* Jonathan Passmore has joined the Roxburgh Agency in Costa Mesa as an advertising account coordinator. Previously, he was an account coordinator and marketing assistant with Eventz Extraordinaire.

* Robert J. Waltos Jr. has been appointed general agent of the Waltos Agency in Orange by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. He is also the principal for the local Robert W. Baird Investment Office. Waltos, who joined Northwestern in 1983, spent the last six years in the corporate office holding such positions as director of recruitment and new agent development and managing director in the life marketing department.

* Gregg Amber has been appointed senior vice president, secretary and general counsel for ZLand.com in Aliso Viejo. Amber had been a partner with Rutan & Tucker, where he served as ZLand.com’s primary outside counsel. From 1995 to 1998, he was a partner with Snell & Wilmer. Amber began his career with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

* Barbara Dunne has joined Point B Inc., a Newport Beach marketing communications agency, as manager of medical education and account supervisor. She previously held positions with FCB Healthcare in San Francisco and GenQuest in San Diego.

* Greg Doxakis has joined E-Zone Networks Inc. as Southwest sales manager, with sales responsibility in Southern California and surrounding states. He was formerly Southwest business manager for Reebok CCS Fitness, where he managed commercial and retail product sales in eight states.

* Cindy Castiglia has been named vice president of business development for the Southern California office of M2, a San Francisco-based broker of independent consultants. She will focus on the Orange County area.

* James R. Corey, Mahvash Yazdi and Michael R. Cooper have been added to the board of directors of ColumbusNewport LLC in Irvine. Corey is president and chief operating officer of Luminant Worldwide Corp. Yazdi is vice president and chief information officer of Edison International and Southern California Edison. Cooper is the former chairman of Opinion Research Corp.
