* With all due respect to Danny Dempsey (letter, Dec. 10), this is not the 1930s, and the “15% tip average” rule has been in effect for decades now. If restaurant owners were to suddenly provide a “living wage” for us servers, menu and drink prices would skyrocket, causing further complaint. If Americans are too cheap to tip properly for efficient service, remember, fast food and take-out places exist for a reason.
