ALS Victims

Share

I enjoyed your article on “Tuesdays With Morrie” (“Going Against the Usual Wisdom,” by Christopher Noxon, Dec. 5). However, I believe the writer was inaccurate in his use of the term “ALS survivors” in describing Jack Lemmon’s research for the part of Morrie.

My father succumbed to this terrible disease in May 1998. As I understand, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is an incurable disease and there are no survivors, only victims. Incidentally, my father donated his body to science with one of the reasons being a hope that it would help in the research for a cure.
