A Top U.S. Soldier Guilty of Misconduct

The U.S. Army dropped the most serious charges against a top enlisted soldier accused of sexually assaulting a female subordinate but found him guilty of misconduct, the Army said. Command Sgt. Maj. Riley Miller “knowingly fraternized” with his military driver, the Army’s 5th Corps said in Heidelberg, Germany. Other charges ranging from forcible sodomy to kidnapping were dropped. Miller was not court-martialed but was given a less serious administrative punishment. He was issued a formal letter of reprimand and fined $3,704, the maximum allowed under the punishment. Miller, formerly U.S. Army Europe’s most senior enlisted man, has appealed the decision.
