New Camp to Serve as Base for Protest

Protesters will set up a camp outside the U.S. Navy base on the outlying Puerto Rican island of Vieques to allow more people to demonstrate against the base’s bombing training, organizers said. Dozens of protesters have camped out on the Navy’s bombing range since April, when two bombs dropped off target killed a civilian guard on the training ground. The incident has drawn Puerto Ricans together in a campaign to end the bombing.
