Ford Motor Co., the world’s No. 2 auto maker, on Tuesday canceled production for a second day at its historic Rouge complex as investigators searched for the cause of an explosion that killed a worker and injured 30 others.

The explosion Monday at the 1,100-acre site in Dearborn, seven miles west of Detroit, knocked out the power supply for the production of glass, steel, engines and the Ford Mustang. As a result, production at 16 of Ford’s 20 North American assembly plants could be disrupted, the company said.

The 6,575 workers at the complex build engines for the Escort and Mercury Tracer and make body panels for other models.
