Princeton Stays on Ivy Roll

Freshman Chris Young scored 17 of his career-high 20 points in the first half and Gabe Lewullis added 20 points as Princeton held off Harvard, 66-60, in an Ivy League men’s basketball game Friday night at Princeton, N.J.

With Harvard center Paul Fisher sidelined because of mononucleosis, Princeton, 14-4 overall and 5-0 in the Ivy League, won its ninth consecutive game overall, its 33rd consecutive conference game and its 17th in a row against Harvard (9-10, 3-4).

WOMEN

No. 11 Old Dominion 74, James Madison 50--Lucienne Berthieu and Mery Andrade scored 19 points apiece at Harrisonburg, Va., as the Monarchs posted their 75th consecutive Colonial Athletic Assn. victory.

Old Dominion (17-3, 11-0) launched a 20-5 run with 7:20 to play in the first half to take a 39-19 lead with 18:56 left. James Madison (9-15, 3-8) trailed by as many as 38 in the second half.

No. 14 Virginia Tech 61, Xavier 60--Amy Wetzel made a three-point basket with 30 seconds to play to tie the game and a free throw with no time left to lead the Hokies (20-1, 10-1) in an Atlantic 10 game at Blacksburg, Va.

Xavier fell to 17-4 and 8-3.

No. 18 Penn State 73, Wisconsin 71--Andrea Garner scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Nittany Lions won a Big Ten game in overtime at Madison, Wis.

Penn State (17-5, 9-3) led, 33-26, at halftime, but the Badgers (10-12, 5-7) outscored the Nittany Lions, 39-32, in the second half to force the overtime.

No. 23 UC Santa Barbara 92, Long Beach State 85--Stacy Clinesmith scored 21 points while Erin Buescher and Rachelle Rogers added 19 apiece to lead the Gauchos (16-3, 8-0) in a Big West game at Long Beach.

Reta Sula had 23 points to lead the 49ers (11-8, 5-3).
