Navy Destroyer Collides With a Merchant Ship

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. —
A Navy destroyer and a much larger merchant ship collided early Friday in the Atlantic Ocean, leaving one sailor with a broken arm and damaging the bows of both ships.
The 563-foot Radford and the 657-foot container ship Saudi Riyadh bumped in the dark about 25 miles off Virginia Beach.
The ships headed for shore to be inspected.
