Young women who live, work or attend school in the city can apply for the Miss Orange 2000 Scholarship Pageant until Feb. 26. Applicants must be between 17 and 24 years old.

Enthusiasm for the competition, to be held Aug. 21, had waned early this decade. Then Lyndsay Kahler Ermeling went on to win the Miss California pageant in 1996. She won $15,500 in scholarships from the Miss America pageant that year.
