The City Council unanimously decided Tuesday to pay an additional $35,411 to Holland-Lowe Construction, the contractor for the city’s Pacific Street Improvement Project, to repair an alley damaged earlier this year by severe flooding from a broken drainpipe.

The problem with the 140-foot alley between Rose and Flower streets was discovered by construction crews while undertaking the $119,000 Pacific Street Improvement Project. City Manager Terry Matz said the city was able to use surplus funds from another project to cover the costs.
