From Times Wire Reports

Items seized from the masterminds of a $17-million robbery were auctioned and thousands clamored to buy a piece of criminal history in Charlotte, N.C. U.S. Marshals sold the booty to reimburse insurer Lloyds of London for losses from the highly publicized October 1997 robbery of an armored car company’s cash warehouse in Charlotte. The sale was expected to generate about $250,000. Steve and Michele Chambers, who plotted the heist, and 17 others have been convicted.
