College Year-Round

Count me as a strong supporter of the legislative analyst’s call for year-round college operations (Feb. 13). The biggest surprise I had in coming to California was learning that the state does not fund year-round operations for our universities. With the expected surge in enrollment in the next 10 years, the time for us to make that change is now. At the California State University, our teacher-preparation programs are scheduled to go year-round in summer 2000, and our entire system will offer year-round classes in the 2000-01 school year.
