Krav Maga Also Gives Bad Guys a Workout

Share

Krav Maga. If you’re an L.A. hard body, you know it as one of L.A.’s most killer workouts. Offered at West L.A.’s Krav Maga Center, the only facility in the U.S. that teaches this self-defense system, it is now available on home video.

Krav Maga (pronounced krahv muhgah) means “contact combat.” It is the official self-defense and fighting style of the Israeli Defense Forces and is used by U.S. law enforcement, including the Beverly Hills, Burbank and Santa Monica police departments. Similar to kickboxing, Krav Maga is also a great workout.

Produced by Skymeister Productions Inc., the five-tape set of instructional videos show Krav Maga techniques in dramatized, true-to-life situations and in the training studio.

“The tapes are a way for us to meet the demands of people in states and cities not near our training location,” explains Howard Mallen, president of Krav Maga Worldwide Enterprises.

“They are a way to give people practical skills to protect themselves in a variety of street situations. You may learn a simple movement that could save your life, like an arm raise to stop a knife or a kick to stop an attempted rape.”
