Pesticides

Your Feb. 19 article on the dangers posed by pesticides should inspire all consumers to stop purchasing produce doused in toxic chemicals immediately. Not only do pesticides pose health problems to those who consume them, but these chemicals harm non-insect wildlife, contaminate ground water and endanger farm workers who handle fruits and vegetables.

The government could help consumers make socially responsible food choices by forcing farmers to label all produce with a list of chemicals contained in the product. There is a significant personal and global danger here--not only for children--and it is time that we stop allowing chemical corporations and the irresponsible farmers who support them to jeopardize public health.
