Hycor Loses $5.7 Million in Quarter as Sales Drop

Hycor Biomedical Inc., the Garden Grove medical diagnostic products company, incurred a fourth-quarter net loss of $5.7 million, or 79 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $445,000, or 6 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue declined 10% to $4.7 million from $5.2 million.

For 1998, Hycor lost $6.6 million, or 91 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $4.3 million, or 60 cents a share, for 1997. Revenue was down 5% to $18.4 million from $19.3 million. The company said results were affected by noncash write-offs for deferred taxes and goodwill totaling $5.4 million.
