Accountants to Give Free Tax Advice

Share

Ventura County residents with questions about their state and federal tax bills can talk to accountants without charge today during “Times Tax Call-In Night.”

The service will be available from 5 to 9 p.m. and is sponsored by the The Times Ventura County Edition, said Lynne T. Jewell, a spokeswoman for the newspaper.

“If people want free tax advice and they are puzzled over their tax statements, this gives them a vehicle to get some of those answers,” Jewell said.

The toll-free number to call is (800) 252-4000.

Telephones will be staffed by more than 30 tax preparers from the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Los Angeles chapters of the California Society of Enrolled Agents.

The tax experts know about changes in tax laws, reducing tax bills and how to trouble-shoot problems with the IRS. People concerned about being audited may also call.
