Need for Jails

Hooray for Orange County Sheriff Michael S. Carona for planning to either enlarge the James A. Musick Jail in Lake Forest from 1,100 beds to 7,584 beds or build new jails (Feb. 19). Carona said that it’s either new jail room or prisoners released on the streets.

What else is new? Los Angeles County has been releasing criminals who do not belong on the streets for the last three or four years for the same reason--no jail room. The judges do not like releasing these criminals, but where are they going to house them? I’m sure Sheriff Lee Baca will help this situation.
