The city plans to buy 250 banners for $18,500 as part of its image improvement efforts. Fifty of the “City of La Palma” banners are needed to provide structural balance to the poles, which currently sway because they hold only one banner, City Manager Daniel Keen said. Of the other 200 banners, half will mark the Celebration of the Arts in March, and the other half will be flown from May to July with a patriotic theme.
