Confusing Shaw

Share

Robert McArthur damns radio host Michael Jackson as a South African Westside liberal (Saturday Letters, Jan. 16), saying Jackson reminds him “of a line George Bernard Shaw wrote to describe a character in ‘Pygmalion’: ‘oozing charm from every pore, he oiled his way around the floor.’ ” The lines are, of course, actually from a song in “My Fair Lady.”

I’m not surprised McArthur doesn’t like Jackson’s show, since it’s really not intended for people who confuse Shaw with Alan Jay Lerner.
