2000 Defense Budget Would Benefit Boeing
Boeing Co. would receive as much as $6.4 billion in the fiscal 2000 defense budget to boost production of its two biggest military aircraft programs and to start production of a new satellite-guided bomb, according to budget documents obtained by Bloomberg News. The documents also indicate the Navy plans to spend $6.6 billion next year on a massive, five-year plan to boost shipbuilding from six to nine vessels a year. One of the largest requests in the $268-billion defense budget is $3.5 billion to buy 15 Boeing C-17 transports, documents show.
