Maurice Evans, once the nation’s leading scorer, said he would return to the Wichita State team only with drastic changes by Coach Randy Smithson and his staff. “I just don’t see myself playing for coach Smithson,” Evans told the Wichita Eagle. “I’ve lost a lot of respect and a lot of trust.” Evans did not suit up for Wednesday’s 79-76 loss to Northern Iowa. He is averaging 23 points per game. . . . Shoplifting charges against Mississippi sophomore Rahim Lockhart were dropped at Oxford, Miss., and his indefinite suspension from the team lifted. . . . Former Georgetown player Kevin Millen was sentenced to two years’ probation at Washington for stalking former coach John Thompson and unlawful entry on the campus.
