Freshman Survey

Share

Re “Women Feeling More Stress in College,” Jan. 25: I read with interest and some alarm the interpretation of the data gathered in the nationwide survey of college freshmen. Were my son in college now, I would be concerned at his lack of discipline and yes, a lack of “stress.” Were my daughter in college now, I would be pleased at her concern for the cost of her education and her concern to do her best.

I hope this twist (as I see it) of statistics is not a precursor of an effort to return women (through fear) to their position of dependency on men. Especially men who are not taking seriously their preparation for their future.
