Trojan Women Lose to Huskies

Sophomore guard Megan Franza scored a game-high 22 points Saturday afternoon to lead the Washington Huskies’ women’s basketball team to a 79-71 victory over USC in a Pacific 10 Conference game before 501 at the Lyon Center.
Washington (10-8, 6-3 in the Pac-10) led at halftime, 43-30. Freshman guard Tiffany Elmore scored 16 of her team-high 20 points after the break as the Trojans (6-12, 2-7) fought to get back in the game.
Senior forward Amber Hall had a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Huskies, who dominated the Trojans on the boards, 51-38.
USC, which shot 34% from the field--11 of 39 for 28% shooting in the first half--got 16 points from sophomore forward Tashara Carter, and junior forward-center Tiffany Washington recorded her second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
