Re “Hubbell Agrees to Guilty Pleas in Deal With Starr,” June 29: Have we still got Kenneth Starr around trying to ruin peoples lives? I’m surprised that anyone would think Webster Hubbell would have pleaded any other way (guilty) with threats hanging over his wife, tax attorney and accountant, not to mention the huge cost in time and money. If it cost the U.S. taxpayer $40 million to $50 million-plus, imagine the cost to everyone who was fingered by Starr. Compassionate Starr, no--very weak case, yes.

Hubbell has pleaded guilty to a cover-up of a fraudulent Arkansas land deal, thus saving the necessity of Hillary Clinton to testify. The last time he pleaded guilty he received over $500,000 in consulting fees from friends of the president. I wonder how much business this will bring him.

Hillary Clinton testified under oath that she had never heard of Castle Grande. Two years later, when the billing records were found in the White House residence, it was revealed that she billed for 60 hours of legal work on Castle Grande. Question: Is she guilty of perjury for lying under oath or is she guilty of fraud by billing for work she never did?
