Bad Weather Again Delays Air Travel

For the second straight day, severe weather in the northeastern United States disrupted air traffic, causing major delays for holiday travelers. “We have significant backups. We have significant delays,” Jeremy Crockford, a spokesman for Boston’s Logan Airport, said after an afternoon lightning strike knocked out a radar site in Nashua, N.H. Departing jetliners were grounded in Boston; Hartford, Conn.; Providence, R.I.; Manchester, N.H.; and Bangor, Maine. Lower-flying commuter aircraft were allowed to operate from Boston because the non-functioning radar site governs airspace above 10,000 feet, Crockford said.
