vs. Cleveland, 7:30

* Records--Rockers 2-9, Sparks 7-4.

* Season series--Sparks, 1-0.

* Radio--KEZY (1190).

* Update--The Sparks shoot for a fifth consecutive victory against the WNBA’s doormat, the Rockers. Los Angeles won at Cleveland, 75-59, in their second game of the season. Cleveland lost seven in a row to start the season, won two and then lost their last two, at Houston and Utah. Guard Jamila Wideman, who started the season with the Sparks, was traded to the Rockers on June 21. Wideman is averaging 11 minutes a game as a backup to Suzie McConnell Serio. Starting Los Angeles point guard Ukari Figgs, who sprained an ankle at Minneapolis Thursday, will probably miss her second game in a row. The Sparks have rebounded since an 86-74 loss to Minnesota on June 24 at the Forum. They’ve since played three of four on the road, most recently back-to-back victories at Minnesota (81-77 in two overtimes) and Detroit (91-81). Those victories were achieved despite foul-plagued Lisa Leslie playing only 19 and 21 minutes. Guard Gordana Grubin, pressing Tamecka Dixon for a starting role, had 14 and 20 points. Leslie (16.7) and Mwadi Mabika (12.2) lead the team in scoring. If 6-foot-6 forward Nina Bjedov had enough attempts, she would be leading the league in shooting accuracy, having made 65.7% of her shots from field.
