India Arrests N. Korean Officers

NEW DELHI — Authorities have arrested officers of a North Korean ship that was detained last month for allegedly carrying equipment to manufacture missiles, a newspaper reported Saturday.
India suspects the shipment was headed for Pakistan. The countries had been on the brink of all-out war after fierce fighting the past two months in Kashmir.
The Indian Express newspaper reported that a customs agency arrested the captain and chief officer for violating customs laws.
The ship docked at Kandla on India’s west coast last month, declaring it was carrying water treatment equipment. But a check revealed that it was loaded with equipment for manufacturing surface-to-surface missiles with a range of 180 miles, the newspaper said.
