* Update--The Sparks start a six-game homestand today against a team that for 2 1/2 seasons has been the WNBA’s best by far. The Sparks’ worrisome attendance should get a needed lift today. On Friday, the team announced it had sold 12,000 tickets for today’s game. After today, Los Angeles plays Phoenix for the fourth and final time Wednesday, then finishes the homestand with New York (Saturday), Orlando (July 27), Utah (July 30) and Washington (Aug. 31). The Sparks are in a battle with Sacramento for second place in the Western Conference. Starting point guard Ukari Figgs’ status is day to day because of a sprained ankle.
