Taliban Targets Afghan Foes

KABUL, Afghanistan — The ruling Taliban militia has launched a major offensive against Afghan opposition forces, using artillery, aircraft and ground troops on three fronts north of the capital, Kabul.
Both sides confirmed the attacks. Fighting has intensified since talks last week in Uzbekistan failed to yield a cease-fire. The Taliban controls almost 90% of the country.
