Polar Appetites
The polar bears in the Calgary zoo were bored, so zookeepers started hiding their food, or freezing it inside ice, to give them a challenge. But the bears were a little too smart for that--they stopped gnawing the ice and started smashing it against the walls.
Although mainly carnivorous, polar bears supplement their diet with plants, so the keepers have experimented with fruits and vegetables. They didn’t like eating the eggplants, but they did enjoy squishing them.
