The Irvine Children’s Fund has established a $5,000 annual scholarship fund to honor Earl Peterson, president of the city’s Child Care Project and a longtime advocate for children throughout the state. The scholarship fund will offset the cost of day care for low-income families by paying up to 50% of their tuition.

Created in 1984, the Irvine Child Care Project was formed through a joint-powers agreement between the city and the Irvine Unified School District. The Irvine Children’s Fund was created in 1988 to take care of fund-raising for the group. Scholarship information: (949) 786-6454.
