Question from June 1:

The Sport Shoe in Atwater Village is also a juice bar. What other unusual business pairings have you seen around town?

Mom’s Donuts and Chinese Food at the intersection of Silver Lake Boulevard and Bellevue Avenue in Los Angeles.

--CAROLE RICHARDS, Los Angeles

The most unusual (and unappetizing) pairing I’ve seen is doughnuts and Chinese food. Gross!!

When our family goes to K Town for Korean food, we get off at Crenshaw Boulevard and down to 8th Street. My wife has begun to find it irritating that I always comment on the mini-mall with the sign for “Donuts and Chinese Food.” I just have this feeling they are offering things like “glazed foo yung” and “kung pao chicken with chocolate sprinkles.”

While driving through a rural area about 30 miles outside of Seattle, we spotted what has to be the most unusual business pairing I’ve ever come across: Norm’s Drive Through Espresso & Live Bait. Don’t ask what the little sprinkles are on top of your latte.

--HARRIET OTTAVIANO, Seal Beach

Not in town and no longer in business, but Ginsburg & Wong, deli & Chinese restaurant at the Hyatt Hotel in Cherry Hill, N.J.

--ART ANGEL, Tarzana
