Vitesse Semiconductor Opens European Branches

Vitesse Semiconductor in Camarillo said it is opening two European subsidiaries to show its commitment to European communication equipment manufacturers.

Vitesse Semiconductor in Germany and Italy will add sales representatives throughout Europe to give it more extensive penetration into the telecommunications and data communications markets.

In Germany, Vitesse Semiconductor is located outside Munich and will be headed by Harald King, sales manager for Central Europe, including the Scandinavian countries. He has been with Vitesse since 1996.

Italian Vitesse Semiconductor, located in Milan, is headed by Guido Carasso, sales manager for Western Europe, including the United Kingdom and Israel. Carasso joined Vitesse in January 1998 from Cirrus Logic Inc.

Vitesse has a technical-assistance office in the United Kingdom and a design center in Copenhagen.

“Growth of the high-speed communications markets in Europe has prompted us to further develop our regional sales and distribution organizations,” said Neil Rappaport, Vitesse’s vice president of sales. “After many years of market development, the time is right for Vitesse to make permanent our presence in Europe.”

Vitesse manufactures communications and automatic test equipment integrated circuits.
