Students from Valencia Elementary School were recognized at Tuesday’s City Council meeting for their achievements at last month’s Orange County Mathematics Field Day. The sixth-grade team, represented by Natasha Cuk, Roxanne Radpour, Linda Oh and Jennifer Wang, placed fourth in problem solving and sixth in mental math. Erica Berrett, Emily Cattolica, Andrew Cheng and Edward Kang, fifth-grade team members, won first place in mental math. The fourth-grade team, which included Perry Ellis, Eric Zozaya, Justin Wang and Curtis Huang, placed first in problem solving and mental math, and second in logic. Certificates were presented to math team members and coach Janice Mecham.
