Boeing Co. won orders for 35 of its 737 jetliners, valued at $1.7 billion, from Midway Airlines Corp., India’s Jet Airways and aircraft leasing company CIT Group, the Seattle-based company announced at the Paris Air Show. Its European rival, Airbus Industrie, also won a $1.2-billion order for 30 single-aisle jets. Brazil’s Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica won orders from Switzerland Crossiar and others for regional jets worth $6.2 billion.

* British bus and rail company Stagecoach Holdings agreed to acquire Houston-based Coach USA, the largest charter and tour bus company in the United States, for $1.24 billion, or $42 a share. It would assume an additional $638 million of debt. Coach USA gained $2.75 to close at $41.38 on the NYSE.

* Vivendi of France, the world’s largest water company, agreed to buy U.S. waste company Superior Services Inc. for $877.5 million in cash, or $27 a share. The deal comes two months after Vivendi acquired Palm Desert-based U.S. Filter Corp. for about $6.2 billion. Vivendi also will take on about $116 million in debt from Milwaukee-based Superior.
