Yellin to Leave Catellus Development

* Ira E. Yellin, senior vice president of real estate giant Catellus Development Corp., said he will leave the San Francisco-based company at the end of October to focus on his own real estate firm, based in Los Angeles.

Yellin was in charge of Catellus’ Southern California mixed-use projects, including Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.

Neither Yellin nor the company would comment further on his resignation. He joined Catellus in 1996.

Yellin’s Los Angeles firm, Yellin Co., has been involved primarily in the development of mixed-use projects such as Grand Central Square, which includes apartments, offices and the historic Grand Central Market in downtown Los Angeles. (Jesus Sanchez)

* Molina Medical Centers, a Long Beach-based health-care company, appointed Dr. Richard Helmer vice president and medical director. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the medical affairs department of Molina and its subsidiaries. Helmer is currently president and founder of Pacific Healthcare Group Inc., an independent medical- and managed-care consulting firm based in Laguna Beach.

* Professional-services firm Deloitte & Touche said it has appointed Ernest Dronenburg Jr. partner in charge of its California tax and government relations practice.

In the newly created position, Dronenburg, a former chairman of the California State Board of Equalization and former chairman of the state Franchise Tax Board, will oversee all client tax issues. He will be based in Los Angeles.
