Pour Le Bebe to Close Baby Guess Shop

Baby Guess on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills will close in about a month, closely following the closure of a Guess home furnishings store. Both stores were owned by Pour Le Bebe Inc., a former licensee of Guess Inc. Guess terminated its license with Pour Le Bebe in January, according to Guess general counsel Glenn A. Weinman, after the baby apparel and home furnishings retailer failed to meet minimum royalty payments to Guess. Weinman said Guess is considering manufacturing those product lines on its own. Guess’ own retail store on Rodeo remains open. Both companies have been the target of Pour Le Bebe employee protests, as the company made plans to close certain operations following the termination of its Guess license. Guess has said it had no part in any decisions to close factories or terminate employees. Pour Le Bebe officials could not be reached for comment.
