Boeing Co. confirmed that KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has ordered five of its 737-800s and four 747-400 jumbo jets. The order is valued at $980 million, according to Boeing’s list price for the planes. KLM, Europe’s fourth-largest carrier, now operates only Boeing aircraft, but a company spokesman was quoted by a Dutch newspaper as saying that it may consider purchasing Airbus planes to meet the needs of its partners, which include Northwest Airlines Corp. and Alitalia.

Signature Flight Support Corp., the nation’s largest flight services company, won Justice Department approval to acquire rival AMR Combs Inc. after it agreed to sell some operations at three airports. The agreement still requires approval by a federal judge. AMR Combs is a unit of AMR Corp., parent of American Airlines.
