UCI Medical Center will honor case management director Margaret Gunther, who died last month, with a 5K/10K walk and run this weekend. Sponsors of Margaret’s Run Around the Block for Cancer expect Sunday’s event to raise about $50,000.

Gunther, who was 56 when she died of endometrial cancer Feb. 22, had three children and was well-known throughout the county. A Fullerton resident for 35 years, she was involved in numerous cultural charities, her friends said.

The 5K and 10K races begin at 8 a.m. at the Block shopping center, at the Garden Grove Freeway and The City Drive. A 1K race for children 12 and younger begins at 9 a.m.

Entry fees are $25 per person. Participants may begin registering Friday at the Block’s Just for Feet shop. Commemorative T-shirts and Block discounts are available for all runners. For information or to sponsor a racer: (714) 456-3904.
