Car Bomb Kills 3, Wounds Governor
A car bomb exploded in central Turkey as a vehicle carrying a local governor passed, killing three people and injuring the politician and nine others, authorities said. The attack in Cankiri targeted Gov. Ayhan Cevik, who had previously served as governor of a province where Marxist rebels are active. “A leftist group, TIKKO, has claimed responsibility,” the Anatolian News Agency quoted Police Chief Necati Bilican as saying.
