Social Security Viability

Re “A Door to Strengthening Social Security,” Ventura County Perspective, March 7.

Rep. Elton Gallegly has a point well taken on the Social Security issue. This fund has been depleted by the funding of inappropriate programs not related to the retired people of this country. All of us have an obligation to help restore the Social Security fund, not only for our immediate future, but for our children and grandchildren.

To place the Social Security fund outside the catchall reach of the general fund would reduce or remove the need to increase the Social Security taxes and ensure the viability of the fund for all Americans.
